The Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast from 4–15 April 2018. More than 6600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and territories will be in Queensland for the 11 day sporting and cultural event.
If you fly a manned aircraft in south-east Queensland, you need to know these dates and the temporary restrictions that will apply. The alternative might be your own gold medal for public nuisance or endangerment!
Manned aircraft pilots will need to know about the air defence information zones (ADIZ), temporary restricted areas (TRA) and other changes and restrictions in force over this period to ensure safety at the games. The details are in AIP Supplement H183/17.
You can also find out what you need to know first-hand at any of the avsafety seminars set to be held in Queensland in the lead-up to the games.
