  • Aircraft: Boeing 737-500
  • Location: Chabahar-Konarak Airport, Iran
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Engineer ingested into jet engine during maintenance.

7 July

  • Aircraft: Cessna 192 Skylane
  • Location: Near Rutherfordton, North Carolina, US
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Parachute drop aircraft took-off on evening positioning flight with pilot and 2 parachute instructors on board. Ground witness described seeing aircraft near cloud. ADS-B data recorded series of descending spirals before aircraft struck ground.

12 July

  • Aircraft: Sukhoi Superjet 100-95LR
  • Location: Ozyorsky District, Moskow, Russia
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Aircraft pitched down and crashed into wooded area 7 minutes after take-off on ferry flight. After recovery of flight data recorder, Russian Federal Air Transport Agency grounded the operator’s fleet of that aircraft type.

20 July

  • Aircraft: Beechcraft A35 Bonanza (V-tail)
  • Location: Near Gustavus, Alaska, US
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: A 1948 vintage aircraft crashed into a mountain in Glacier National Park. Wreckage was found near the peak and4,500 feet lower, likely due to an avalanche.

24 July

  • Aircraft: Bombardier CRJ-200ER
  • Location: Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport, Nepal
  • Fatalities: 18
  • Description: Aircraft crashed on take-off of ferry flight to Pokhara for maintenance. Engineering staff on board. Video shows descent in right wing low attitude. One survivor.

28 July

  • Aircraft: Taylor Coot A
  • Location: Near Merritt Airport, British Columbia, Canada
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Wing separated from home-built amphibious aeroplane as it turned onto final.

9 August

  • Aircraft: Piper PA-31 Navajo C
  • Location: Near Cerro Castillo, Chile
  • Fatalities: 7
  • Description: Aircraft crashed into ravine under unknown circumstances.

9 August

  • Aircraft: ATR 72-500
  • Location: São Paulo, Brazil
  • Fatalities: 62
  • Description: Videos show aircraft emerging from cloud base in flat spin at very low airspeed. Flight data recorder showed sudden steep descent from FL170. SIGMET for severe icing between FL120 and FL210 in area.

16 August

  • Aircraft: Fouga CM170R Magister
  • Location: Sea near Le Levandou, France
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Jet warbird crashed during airshow display.

22 August

  • Aircraft: Cessna 208B Grand Caravan
  • Location: Wat Khao Din, Thailand
  • Fatalities: 9
  • Description: Aircraft crashed en route under unknown circumstances.

27 August

  • Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
  • Location: Hartsfield Jackson Airport, Georgia, US
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Delta Airlines’ employee and contractor killed by
    tyre explosion during maintenance.

31 August

  • Aircraft: Cessna 421C Golden Eagle
  • Location: Troutdale airport, Oregon, US
  • Fatalities: 2+1
  • Description: Pilot reported ‘handling problems’ soon after take‑off for circuit and was cleared to land on any runway. Aircraft crashed into houses near airport, killing those on board and a person on the ground.

4 September

  • Aircraft: Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
  • Location: East of Seoul, Republic of Korea
  • Fatalities: 0
  • Description: Japan Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence at FL410. Cabin crew member fractured rib.

6 September

  • Aircraft: Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage
  • Location: Near Anderson, Indiana, US
  • Fatalities: 4
  • Description: Pilot requested go around at 0.9 nm and 1,000 ft AGL. During subsequent circuit, aircraft suddenly rolled right and dived into ground.

16 September

  • Aircraft: Robinson R66
  • Location: Near Zolotaya Gora, Russia
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances.

  • Aircraft: Yakovlev Yak 18T
  • Location: Near Fivizzano, Italy
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Aircraft struck mountainside in Apennine region near
    Parma, was flown by demonstration pilot for Dassault Aviation.

Date 22 September

  • Aircraft: Nanchang CJ-6A/Yakovlev Yak-52
  • Location: Near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, US
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Aircraft collided during formation flight. Nanchang
    spun and crashed, Yak landed on road.
