Several temporary restricted areas (TRAs) will be in place within the Bathurst area between Tuesday 8 October and Sunday 13 October for the Bathurst 1000 motor race.
Bathurst Airport Restricted Area
A TRA will be established within a 5NM radius of Bathurst Airport (YBTH) on Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October. Restrictions apply to operators of drones, gliders, parachuting activities, ultralight aircraft, balloons and microlights. Circuit training is not permitted without the express permission of the YBTH operator.
Mount Panorama Restricted Areas
Three TRAs will be established at Mount Panorama between Tuesday 8 October and Sunday 13 October to safely manage increased helicopter activity and RAAF flying displays. Pilots are required to check Melbourne FIR NOTAMs for the hours of activity of the TRAs.
Taxiing and parking procedures at YBTH will also be affected, with apron facilities unavailable. There will be sealed and grassy parking available for eligible aircraft.
Drone operators are urged to leave their drones at home. Don’t be tempted to use your drone to capture footage of the race. Flying your drone in a populous area or near large crowds at major events is not allowed, and airspace restrictions can change.
