Just want to fly your drone without endangering anyone or breaking any laws?
CASA now has an app to help you.
The app instantly shows drone operators where they can and can’t fly. It’s a map-based program showing airports, airfields and helicopter landing sites around Australia, educating users about the restrictions and rules they need to follow.
The app, called ‘Can I fly there?’ also shows controlled airspace, defence and restricted areas across the country, warning drone operators not to fly there.
‘The app is a valuable educational and situational awareness tool for both commercial and recreational drone flyers,’ CASA says.
CASA commissioned specialist company Drone Complier to produce the app after a competitive tender process.
The app is available on Android and iOS devices, with a web-based HTML5 version also accessible.
